5 amazing marketing lessons you can learn from a one-armed lady pole dancing champ

A LADY WITH THE IRON WILL

I was just reading thru the online news today when I can accross this article on a lady pole dancing champ that just recently bagged the title Ultimate Pole Champion in Hong Kong, disabled division yesterday, April 1st.

Australian Deborah Roach, who is missing an arm, claimed the Ultimate Pole title in the disabled division and said she had always loved to dance.”I actually got into an underground Goth scene in my teenage years because I didn’t fit into normal society. I loved dancing the night away on the dance floor, and that led to stage dancing in clubs,” she said.In 2006, inspired by a circus-themed double act she saw at a club she was dancing in, Roach took up pole dancing and aerial acrobatics, and hasn’t looked back.

In 2009 she won a pole dancing competition against able-bodied dancers, which spurred her to quit her job in IT, become a personal trainer, get her first prosthetic and learn to ride a bike at age 28.Other winners said that they had to unlearn habits from their past athletic experiences, such as dropping poses from artistic gymnastics and the like.

HOW THIS TRANSLATES TO YOU AS A MARKETER

Marketing yourself or a product that you are selling can be a daunting experience to most people. People generally fear the feeling of rejection particularly from family, friends and colleagues. In the end, most loose heart and stop the thought of venturing into marketing before ever even beginning.

More than having the financial capital to do business, having the right state of might is your biggest tool in order for you to succeed in any business venture of your choice.

Below are some tips that you can follow to improve your marketing skills:

1. BE MOTIVATED — ALWAYS

Life is never easy… but that should deter you from doing what you love most.

When Doborah Roach thought that she would never fit in a normal society back when she was a teenager, she took up the courage in herself to stand above her disability. Thus, making her handicap her motivation to be better in her chosen craft.

2. PRACTICE AND SWEAT IT OUT EVERYDAY

I’m not really fond of pole dancing but I’m 100% sure that having that skill didn’t happen overtime. One would have to endure a lot of tears blood and sweat to perfect that kind of craft. This holds true even for new or seasoned marketers. One has to constantly hone his skills and be very precise about it. Things only gets better everytime.

3. BELIEVE THAT OBSTACLES ARE OPPORTUNITIES IN DISGUISE

Problems, hindrances, predicaments or otherwise known as “obstacles” are always a part of your everyday living. But those obstacles can be your best friend only if you know how to treat it well. You only need to change your perpective and think positively. Obstacles are actually opportunities. It’s a chance for you to make right was is wrong in a situation or event in your life or somebody else’s which in the end, will make you much more stronger, better.

In the case of Deborah, her obstacle was her handicapped arm but she also had her love for dancing. Thus, made her realize her opportunity to delve her skill to pole dancing which she succeeded greatly.

4. BE INSANELY DILIGENT

Just keep going at it. Ok, let’s leave Deborah for a moment. Now, remember the late Steve Jobs? Apple would be the biggest company it is with out his crazy innovations. His great feats of hard work making Apple a great staple of success would be complete withiut his diligencence. While most have repeatedly mocked his earlier versions of the Apple tablet, he went on and kept going at it.

POINT IN FOCUS: No one can realize your dream for you but you. Only you hold the key to making it come true.

5. KNOW THAT YOU ARE UNIQUE AND ONE OF A KIND

We are not born that same way as others may be. What works for you may not work for another. So learn more about yourself and find what your natural God-given niche is.

Some may love cooking, thus making business of either having a restaurant or baking, etc; Others may love writting, thus having their business of blog writting, script writting, etc; Others may love to animals thus making their business of an animal pet clinic.

In this life, the possibilities are endless, and if you believe that you truly have a unique gift, go forth and make it known. It is our uniqueness that sets us apart from one another. It’s God’s precious gift to each and every one of us so learn to use it well.
